The Carnival Chronicles
the Carnvial Chronicles
Tuesday, 1 November 2005

Welcome to the first edition of the Carnival Chronicals. We hope you are enjoying the season as much as we are!

It has now rained in Brisbane for 3 weeks in a row,
which has meant unseasonably few workshops for October! Yet, we have had a very busy month with public shows at the Bellingen Global Carnival, Murgon Grape Festival, Pine Rivers’ Outside & Alive Festival, Reclaim the Night, the Manly Halloween Festival, and World Vegan Day to top it all off just yesterday! Thanks to everyone who joined us and came to say ‘hi’ at these events!

Earthcore Qld 2-4 December
The Carnival has recruited some of Brisbane’s finest fire talent and has also sourced some amazing artists from overseas to create a monstrous one-off fire spectacular at the Earthcore Global Carnival’s Queensland debut this December. This collaborative feature fire performance may never again be repeated, so get your Earthcore tickets soon if you don’t want to miss it! Checkout for the full lineup and ticketing details.

Woodford Folk Festival 27 Dec - 2 Jan
The Carnival is gearing up for a week of street theatre performances at the Woodford Folk Festival. We will be performing most nights of the event. Check out their online programme for show times and the extraordinary lineup this year. This year, a very special venue will debut at the festival, Circadia! This is a dedicated juggle / twirling / dancing / workshop / playing space. You will find us there jamming with other circus kids throughout much of this beautiful festival! Important ticketing information: for the first time, you will not be able to buy Woodford tickets at the gate (yes, even for day tickets). You will need to pre-purchase all tickets via their website:

Dalby Street Festival 15 December (FREE!)
See the Carnival's fire pixies perform at this free, public street party organised by the kind folk of Dalby.

Fire Twirling Workshops (every Thursday)
We are running weekly (poi + staff) firetwirling workshops at the Kangaroo Point rock climbing cliffs every Thursday evening from 6:30pm. All skill levels welcome. Bookings essential, visit for more details.

Fire Eating Workshops (on demand)
We plan to host another fire eating workshop in the coming months. The last fire eating workshop at Ahimsa House was a huge success! Congratulations to all our daring fire eaters and body burners who conquered fire eating for the first time! If anyone missed out or wants to brush up on basic fire eating skills, please let us know. When we have enough numbers, we will do it all again!

Private Workshops
Are you trying to nut out a particular trick? Or want a kick start in the art of fire dancing? Or can't make it to the regular workshops? Contact us to arrange a private intensive workshop in any or all of the following: single staff, double staves, poi spinning, fire eating, or body burning.
